Driven and interview with Tracy G and Timm Saxton
Rocknrollstation.com on 10-5-01 with Atomic Chaser/The Rocker
Greetings
from Timm And Tracy
Scheduled for 10 PM according to Tracy’s mailing list
RnRStation listed it as 10:30 PM
Actually started: 11:55 PM Ended 1:45 AM

The kick off to the interview was delayed due to the boys getting stuck in traffic.
While the station waited for them to get there they talked about Porno—it would seem that Atomic Chaser and The Rocker are aficionados of the topic.
They played some WWIII and some of the prior Driven release—Citizen X.
The interview took place with audio and video as well as a chat room where the fans could interact with both the DJs and the two guest musicians.
There were a couple of Dio fans there, including Dave from Heavy Metal Resource—so you might see an article up on his site as well.
The new release is called “Self Inflicted” and was released in Europe only on September 17th. There are no plans at this time to release in the US—but it is available as an import through NEHRecords.com or Century Media. They are signed with the German label TMT Records.
They hope for a tour, but communication with the label has been difficult. As a result they plan on some self-promoting tours in the next few months—particularly in the California area.
When asked about who wrote what—Tracy indicated that he wrote all the music and ideas and Timm would write all the lyrics. “I’m kinda out there,” Timm confessed of their first discussion about teaming up. “Do whatever you want,” Tracy added.
Meeting
Timm, New Title and the Band's Name
Apparently 30 songs were written for this latest album—of which 12 were pulled from and placed on the release.
When asked about the meaning behind some of the tunes, Timm said that the track “World to Me” was about a bouncer from a club 3-6-9 on a heroin overdose. While others were just a lot of shit in life and feel like your gonna die and you just don’t—you just never know what will happen next.
Timm got a tat of DRIVEN in an arch over his belly button. “A night of heavy drinking,” Timm says of how it came about. “It was the cover shot we submitted.” He continued, indicating that he was into scarification and that he took a picture of it while it had been freshly cut and still bleeding. “The label wouldn’t use it...but the one that was used is great too.” The final cover for the new release is a shot of Timm's head with a Celtic symbol and the Driven logo.
Tracy talked about cutting his hair off. He gave it to his mother as a trophy.
The rest of the interview was set to letting Tracy noodle
around on the guitar (he had a six string with a Les Paul body—though it
seemed that he had brought this effects monster IGOR), as well as a contest
(which oddly enough I won)
concerning Timm’s past band and what it stands for:
SNACK, Skateboarding is Not A Crime Kop.
At one point, Timm in the DJ seat, claimed “I’m taking over the station” adding “All Driven All The Time” as their slogan—LOL!
Well if you see these guys coming your way—either RUN LIKE HELL or make sure to get a ticket to their show, depending on your own temperament.
I spoke with Tracy on the phone after this when the Dio
Fan's Place had a nice fully interactive live text chat while playing the whole
Driven Album front to back. Here
is what he had to say. ![]()
