What this is:

The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast by Alan Aldridge and William Plomer © 1973

The Tale:

In the early 1970s Ronnie James Dio worked closely with Roger Glover to create a musical rendition of the children's tale of love and understanding. A book by  Alan Aldrich and William Plomer was taken to new heights with the orchestrated efforts of a number of great musicians. It all came together much as you see here.

Be prepared to take a journey to a land of wonder and experience the music of another time, about another place. I will walk you through the tale with the original text, the original art, and Nature's Notes commentary from the appendix--all from the original book, as well as an audio reading by Ann Marie Boyd in addition to the musical compositions accessible below.

Editor Notes:

I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed putting it together. I have to be honest and say it was NOT easy. But I have no doubt in the end it was WELL worth all the efforts!

This has been on DIFFICULT project to have all the pieces come together just as they have. I had to get the book from England and then get special software to encode and transcribe both the text as well as the art and still maintain the "feel" of the original book. Additionally I had to encode all the music from a digitally remastered and enhanced CD to give the best quality.

Special thanks to Ann Marie Boyd for all the help and support, as well as all you fans for coming by to take a look and experience this great and wonderous tale.

All The Best,

KEN
